If you’re new to vinyl flooring, you’re likely to have lots of questions. For example, what are the different types? Is it the right flooring for me? How long does it last? Here at Textures Flooring, we have compiled some information about vinyl flooring hoping to answer some of these questions for you!
In short, vinyl flooring is an unnatural product that is made up of several different layers of PVC and other materials. Due to its numerous layers, it is highly durable and waterproof, making it perfect for a bathroom or kitchen, in addition to high foot-fall areas such as the landing and living room. Due to a rise in popularity, vinyl flooring is now available in a wide variety of designs, colours and can even mimic expensive materials such as natural wood and marble.
There are two main types of flooring which are luxury vinyl tiles and vinyl sheet flooring. LVT is used if you’re wanting flooring which replicates real wood, natural stone and ceramic tiles – like we discussed above. It’s not only favoured because of its cheap price in comparison to the real materials, but it is also much easier to install. With most LVT being 5mm thick and above, it can be placed straight onto existing floors.
Unlike LVT, vinyl sheet flooring is ordered to length from large sheet rolls. Its PVC core is connected to either a felt or foam backing and topped with a printed design and durable transparent layer. This type of vinyl flooring is very affordable, and can bring an array of designs to your home, such as the herringbone effect. In addition, it is super easy to clean! Simply sweep away dust with a dry brush, and mop with water to eradicate stains and mud. If you’d like some more information about vinyl flooring, just check out this page.
